If you were Google and you wanted to buck the trend and secure some revenues, then, for sure you would try and increase the return from your cash cow. For google the cash cow is adsense.

So how would you do it? OK I know I’ll shake up the search results a little, scare some of the commercial sites.. they wont know where they are, they’ll panic buy google ads like crazy to try and maintain their traffic.
